A couple of music choices in this show were inspired by recent dreams. In the first, I was wandering through a record store that looks similar to the video store in the movie “Be Kind Rewind”. I was wandering through the aisles, trying to get ideas for my radio show and The Modern Lovers’ “Roadrunner” was playing over the store’s sound system.
In the other dream, I was looking at some vinyl that a street dealer was selling on the outskirts of a college campus. There were some Robyn Hitchcock promos that I had never seen before (of course), but wouldn’t you know…..I didn’t have any money. I would wager that this is a standard dream for musicgeeks; running across rare or previously unheard-of albums by favorite artists and not having any money, or waking up before you get to hear the tracks or see the track titles. *GRIN* Anyway, in response to this, I played a cut from my red vinyl “Madonna Of The Wasps” promo 12″ single – a great spoken word bit from Robyn. Why he hasn’t released an album of spoken word stuff, I DON’T KNOW, but it is a crying shame.
